Rating: 5 of 5 stars

Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.

Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend—the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.

Can Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and Winter defeat Levana and find their happily ever afters?

Review:

This review will mostly likely be pretty incoherent and random. But all you need really need to know is that this book is epic and fantastic and wonderful and I’m soooooooooo sad that it’s over.

There’s a lot going on story-wise, especially when you have 8-10 main characters. They never quite all together and they mix and match throughout the book, doing crazy action-packed things as they (Cinder and the crew) try to take down Queen Levena.

Cobert - heart burst full of rainbows

800 plus pages is really long. There’s definitely parts that I could have liked better, like the fight scenes. I found a bit all over the place, and would have liked it more Cinder and crew had a bit more a plan, things got a bit chaotic. But that being said, I loved every bit.

There was one especially amazing moment that seriously made me love Cinder so much. It’s epic and intense and awesome and just brilliant.

She heard gunshots, but she had already jumped. The black sky opened up before her and fell.

Sometimes I feel bad for Levena, but jeez, she is evil. There’s also a few other characters I wouldn’t mind seeing getting a kick in the butt.

……………………..

Winter and Jacin

I really liked Winter, she’s definitely an interesting character. She’s a bit crazy but is such a wonderful, sweet person.

“She was prettier than a bouquet of roses and crazier than a headless chicken. Fitting in was not an option.”

I wasn’t the biggest fan of Jacin in Cress, but he won me over more in this. I love how much he cares for Winter. They only had this book to make me fall in love them, and they did a pretty good job.

“I’m delusional, and crazy, and damaged. I’ve known it a long time, we both have. Scarlet tells me all the time.”

“You’re perfect,” he said, finishing his thought as if she hadn’t interrupted.

Also, Winter and Scarlet was such an interesting pair!

Cress and Thorne

Arrrg, these guys. They’re totally sneaking up to be my favourite pair. I love how much character development there is for both of them. They’re so awkward and cute. Cress finding her self-confidence is a happy thing.

“I’ll find you,” Thorne whispered. He pressed a hasty kiss against her mouth, wrapping her hand around something heavy and warm. “Be heroic”.

And she was (:

Thorne is still hilarious and awesome. He makes me so happy. A bijillion points for Thorne for being the hero Cress deserves.

Thorne glances back at the pantry. “Did you see any rice in there? Maybe we could fill Cinder’s head with it.”

Everyone stared at him.

“You know, to … absorb the moisture, or something. Isn’t that a thing?”

Scarlet and Wolf

Scarlet and Wolf definitely have the biggest struggles to deal with, so I’m crazy happy they’re finally togetheeeeer!

He was here. He was here. […]

“How?”

“I smelled you.” Wolf was grinning so wide she see the sharp teeth he normally tried to hide. It had been a long time since she’d seem him so happy.

Scarlet was pretty badass in this and Wolf for the most part got a lot of the short end of the straw (like for real, heartbreaking). I was ecstatic when he finally got his HEA with Scarlet.

“I need him as much as he needs me. But that doesn’t make it love.”

Winter lowered her lashes. “Actually, dear friend, I suspect that is precisely what makes it love.”

Cinder and Kai!

Awwwww they cute. They don’t actually have a ton of time together, but they’ve finally worked out their feelings for each other so we got a lot cute moments!

“Let’s not overlook your ability to make every girl swoon with just a smile.”

It took Kai a moment to hear her over his frustration, but then his expression cleared and he grinned.

“Yep,” she said, shutting the panel. “That’s the one.”

Cinder and Kai both have grown so much over the 4 books! I love Cinder with all the characters. Cinder and Thorne will definitely be forever one of my favourite platonic couple. Kai and Thorne are actually pretty amazing, too!

Kai tilted her chin towards him and kissed  her. She didn’t know what number it was – she’d finally figured out how to turn of her brain’s auto-count function and she didn’t care how many times he kissed her. She did care that every kiss no longer felt like their last.

Iko

Has become even more awesome in this book! I love love her sass. Cinder and Iko have the friendship we all should strive for.

“I’m literally broken.”

Iko settled a hand on Cinder’s shoulder’s “Yeah, but broken isn’t the same as unfixable.”
